Birdhouse

This is a older project from the first course at LTU (2020), we were tasked with designing and building a prototype of a birdhouse for the target audience of small birds, specifically aimed at the Great Tit. The concept should functionally protect the target group from weather and predators, but the birdhouse should also be easily assembled and emptied for the next brood. The birdhouse should strive for simpler production to reduce complications and costs, yet it should still be attractive in today's birdhouse market.

We recieved one sheet of plywood and where not allowed to use anything else except glue to keep it all together.

Safety: The birdhouse has a thick protruding beam that makes it impossible for predators to insert their paws or expand the hole. The beam and roof also make it more difficult for wind and weather to disturb the birds.
Hanging: Screw two screws through the detachable piece, when it's on the wall, you just need to hang/hook the birdhouse so it sits firmly and doesn't need re-screwing to be taken off/put up.
Cleaning: The roof can be lifted straight off after removing the small nail from the back
I also hung it up in the forest to see if any birds would choose it as their home. One spring later, and some birds had used it—great success. Ofcourse it does not age well due to not being treated in any way and its only plywood.
